Christmas in Helsinki: Aleksanterinkatu and Stockmann
As we are approaching christmas, I'd like to give you a small christmas special. I you happen to be in downtown Helsinki in December and up for some christmas spirit, these are my favourite things to do.
Helsinki is a beautiful city year-round, but it is especially magical during the Christmas season. The city is transformed into a winter wonderland, with twinkling lights, festive decorations, and Christmas markets all around.
One of the best ways to experience the Christmas spirit in Helsinki is to visit Aleksanterinkatu, one of the city's main shopping street. Every year, Aleksanterinkatu is transformed into a Christmas street, with hundreds of thousands of lights and decorations. The street is also home to a lovely Christmas market in the Senate Square, where you can buy everything from traditional Finnish Christmas decorations to delicious Christmas food and drinks.
Another must-see Christmas attraction in Helsinki is the Stockmann Christmas window. Every year, the department store Stockmann creates a stunning Christmas window display. The display is always different, but it is always elaborate and creative. The Stockmann Christmas window is a popular tourist destination, and it is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.
In addition to Aleksanterinkatu and the Stockmann Christmas window, Helsinki also has a number of other Christmas markets. One of the most popular Christmas markets is located in the Senate Square. The Senate Square Christmas market is a small market with a variety of stalls selling Christmas decorations, food, and drinks. The market is also home to a large Christmas tree, which is decorated with thousands of lights.
If you are looking for a truly special Christmas experience, be sure to visit Helsinki during the Christmas season. The city's Christmas street and Stockmann Christmas window are the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the magic of the season.
With this I'd like to wish you a truly happy festive season and happy year. I'll take a small break in writing during the upcoming weeks, but I'll be back early January. See you then!
