Perlan Museum: A Must-Visit Attraction in Reykjavik

The Perlan Museum is a popular tourist destination in Reykjavik, Iceland. It is located on Öskjuhlíð hill, which offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding area. The museum is housed in four water tanks that were built in the 1940s to store hot water for the city.


The Perlan Museum opened in 1991 and has since undergone several expansions. Today, it houses a variety of exhibitions that explore the natural wonders of Iceland. These include:

Wonders of Iceland:

This exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the different natural wonders of Iceland, from glaciers to volcanoes. There are interactive exhibits, videos, and models that help visitors learn about the geology, climate, and wildlife of Iceland.



Ice Cave:

This exhibition features a real ice cave that was brought to the museum from Vatnajökull glacier. Visitors can walk through the cave and learn about the formation of glaciers. (My photos do no justice to the cave, it's really nice!)



Lava Show:

This show uses special effects to create a realistic simulation of a volcanic eruption. Visitors learn about the different types of volcanoes and how they erupt.



Planetarium:

The planetarium shows offer a unique perspective on the night sky. Visitors can learn about the constellations, planets, and stars.


The Perlan Museum also has a gift shop, café, and ice cream bar. The gift shop sells souvenirs, books, and other items related to Iceland. The café offers a variety of food and drinks, including traditional Icelandic dishes. The ice cream bar serves delicious ice cream made with Icelandic milk.

The Perlan Museum is a great place to learn about the natural wonders of Iceland. It is also a fun and educational place to visit for people of all ages.
