Reykjavik: The Capital of Iceland

Reykjavik is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the coast of Faxaflói bay. The city has a population of around 130,000 people, making it the smallest capital city in Europe.

  • Go whale watching or puffin watching, two of Iceland's most popular activities.

Getting Around Reykjavik

The city center of Reykjavik is small and walkable. However, if you want to explore the surrounding area, you will need to rent a car. There is also a public bus system that can take you to most parts of the city.

Accommodation in Reykjavik

Hotels in Reykjavik are expensive, especially during the summer months. However, you can find reasonably priced Airbnb's in the nearby suburb of Kópavogur.
