Casa Pàdua: A hidden gem of Catalan modernism in Barcelona

Most times when architecture is mentioned in any Barcelona-related conversation, Gaudi's astonishing work is dominating the talks. Although that is for a good reason, there are also other other architects who have left their footprint in Barcelona.

Casa Pàdua is a beautiful modernist house located in the Sant Gervasi neighborhood of Barcelona, Spain. It was designed by the Catalan architect Jeroni F. Granell i Manresa and built in 1900. The house is known for its colorful facade, floral motifs, and wrought-iron balconies.


History

The house was originally built as a summer home for a wealthy family. However, the family soon abandoned the house, and it fell into disrepair. In the 1970s, the house was restored by the architect Alonso Balaguer, who received a prize for his work.
