Cadaqués: a picturesque getaway near Barcelona

I visited Cadaqués in April 2022 and was immediately smitten with its picturesque boulevard and relaxed feeling outside the buzz of Barcelona. The town is located on the Cap de Creus peninsula, about 150 kilometers north of Barcelona. It is known for its whitewashed houses, cobblestone streets, and stunning coastal scenery.



One of the things I loved most about Cadaqués was its picturesque boulevard. It is lined with palm trees and restaurants, and offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. I spent hours strolling along the boulevard, people-watching and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.



Another thing I loved about Cadaqués was its relaxed feeling outside the buzz of Barcelona. The town is very popular with tourists, but it still retains a small-town charm. I felt like I could really relax and unwind in Cadaqués.


Here are a few tips for things to do in Cadaqués:

- Visit the Salvador Dalí House-Museum: Dalí lived and worked in Cadaqués for many years, and his house is now a museum. The museum is a must-see for fans of Dalí's work.

- Take a boat trip to the Cap de Creus peninsula: The Cap de Creus peninsula is a beautiful natural area with stunning coastal scenery. You can take a boat trip from Cadaqués to explore the peninsula and visit some of its hidden coves.

- Visit the Es Portal beach: Es Portal is a beautiful beach located just outside of Cadaqués. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun and sand.

How to get to Cadaqués

The best way to get to Cadaqués is by car. The drive from Barcelona takes about two hours. There is also a bus that goes from Barcelona to Cadaqués, but the journey takes about three hours.

There is a fee for parking in Cadaqués. You can park in the car park located at the entrance to the town.

I you happen to be in downtown Helsinki in December and up for some christmas spirit, these are my favourite things to do.  Helsinki is a beautiful city year-round, but it is especially magical during the Christmas season.
