Sideways Festival: A Must-Visit for Indie and Electronic Music Lovers in Helsinki

Soon it's my favourite time of year, as Sideways is coming again in the beginning of June! For a number of years Sideways has been the summer-opener for me and it has never failed.

Sideways, one of Finland's most popular summer festivals, has established itself as a haven for indie and electronic music enthusiasts. Held annually at the Helsinki Ice Hall "Nordis" in Nordenskiöldinkatu, the festival offers a diverse lineup of international and domestic artists, creating an electric atmosphere that attracts music lovers from all corners of the globe.

A Celebration of Indie and Electronic Music

Sideways has carved a niche for itself by showcasing a carefully curated selection of indie and electronic artists, catering to a wide range of musical tastes. From established acts like Roisin Murphy and Caribu to up-and-coming indie darlings like Desire and many Finnish artists, Sideways offers something for everyone.

A Festival for All and to Remember

Beyond its musical offerings, Sideways has become a beloved festival for its welcoming atmosphere and well-rounded program. The festival's venue, the Helsinki Ice Hall, provides a spacious and functional setting, with both indoor and outdoor stages, bars, and food stalls. Also the side program has always been of good quality and the arcade with its retro game machines deserves an extra shoutout. Accessibity is also on a fairly good level, and Sideways applies principles for a safer space.

Sideways Festival has become a Finnish summer tradition, attracting thousands of music lovers each year. With its diverse lineup, welcoming atmosphere, and well-functioning venue, Sideways is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories.

Hallgrímskirkja: The Pride of Reykjavik

Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. At 74.5 meters (244 ft) tall, it is the largest church in Iceland and among the tallest structures in the country.
